16 Tech Visioning Study
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Synthesis showcases its leadership and visionary capabilities through the vision study of the 16 Tech district in downtown Indianapolis. Initially conceived as an overlooked area, deemed fit only for storage warehouses and light industry, Synthesis collaborated closely with city officials and community stakeholders to craft a strategic vision plan for a progressive urban technology park.

Ripple Effect
The envisioned 16 Tech site is designed to be a 24-hour live, work, play, and learn environment. This expansive development includes 2 million SF of office and lab space, maker space, co-working space, multi-family housing, a hotel, restaurants, and various retail establishments. The plan encompasses four parks, providing 15 acres of green space, along with three miles of walking and biking trails, connecting to the city's active waterways. The anticipated impact includes the creation of 9,000 jobs, with 4,000 in 'high-skill' occupations, and an investment of $160 million.

As the Program Manager for the signature bridge and gateway project, Synthesis assisted in implementing the vision by soliciting notable design teams globally, collaborating with city agencies, and integrating community assets to enhance the brand and identity of the 16 Tech district.
The Vision:
This vision plan has accelerated the growth of the commercial district focusing on high technology businesses and translational research, complementing the academic and medical concentrations to the north, while creating a vibrant live, work, play, and learn community.
