Indiana Convention Center Food Court

Evolving Food Service for a Faster Pace
Feeding a Fast-Moving Crowd

At the Indiana Convention Center, food service plays a critical role in supporting the pace of large-scale events. The Maryland Landings Food Court has long served as a central hub for attendees looking for quick, convenient options between sessions.

When Speed and Efficiency Fall Behind

As event schedules became tighter and attendee expectations shifted, traditional food service models began to create friction. Queues, staffing demands, and limited flexibility made it harder to deliver the fast, seamless experience today’s convention visitors expect.

Reimagining Food Service for Flow

Synthesis transformed the food court into a more efficient, technology-driven environment. Existing food bays were reconfigured to introduce a grab-and-go market and self-checkout systems, reducing wait times and streamlining operations. Large-scale LED screens, the first of their kind in the convention center, provide flexible branding opportunities for event sponsors. Durable terrazzo flooring was expanded to support heavy foot traffic, while additional “On-the-Go” self-serve kiosks were placed near exhibit halls and meeting rooms to extend access beyond the food court itself.

A Faster, Smarter Experience

The Maryland Landings Food Court now operates as a flexible, high-performance destination that aligns with the rhythm of convention activity. By improving flow, reducing friction, and integrating technology, the space delivers a more seamless experience for attendees while supporting the operational needs of the venue.
