Integrated Workspace Renovation
A Physical Link That Drives Operational Efficiency
A Campus in Pieces
Within a pharmaceutical campus, three existing buildings formed a partial horseshoe, functioning independently but lacking a cohesive connection. While each building supported its own operations, the campus as a whole remained fragmented in both layout and identity.
Disconnected Spaces, Disconnected Teams
The physical separation between buildings created inefficiencies in circulation and limited collaboration across departments. Dispersed teams and inconsistent workplace environments made it difficult to establish a unified identity, particularly for the global marketing group operating within the campus.
Bridging Buildings and Teams
Synthesis led the design of a 325,000-square-foot integrated workplace environment, renovating three existing buildings and introducing a new connecting structure to complete the campus form. This intervention established a central courtyard and improved circulation, physically and visually linking departments. Architecture, interiors, and landscape were designed as a cohesive system to support collaboration and efficiency. A separate 124,000-square-foot corporate office renovation further aligned the workplace with evolving work styles, incorporating shared collaboration zones, social hubs, flexible conference spaces, and areas for focused work. Delivered on an accelerated timeline, the project achieved a 20 percent reduction in construction costs and shortened the schedule by six months.
A Unified, High-Performance Workplace
The campus now operates as a connected and cohesive environment, where teams can move easily, collaborate effectively, and share a clear identity. By aligning physical space with organizational needs, the project transforms a collection of buildings into a unified workplace designed for flexibility, efficiency, and long-term performance.
