A Space to Support the Way We Work

For its own headquarters, Synthesis sought to create a workplace that reflects its collaborative culture and evolving design process. Housed within a warehouse-style building, the space offered a flexible foundation for transformation.

An Industrial Shell Without Purpose

While the existing structure provided volume and character, it did not support the range of work styles, tools, and collaboration required by a modern design studio. The challenge was to turn a raw industrial space into an environment that actively supports creativity, teamwork, and innovation.

Designing a Workplace Around Process

The renovation reimagines the building as a flexible, multi-functional studio. Open and enclosed work areas, conference rooms, and focus booths support a range of working styles, while a central café creates an informal hub for gathering and connection. At the core of the space is The Sandbox, a visualization environment equipped with advanced technology to support design exploration and client engagement. Dedicated areas for 3D printing, model-making, and storage further reinforce the studio’s hands-on process.

A Living Expression of the Studio

The headquarters now functions as both a workplace and a reflection of Synthesis’ values. It supports collaboration, experimentation, and adaptability, serving as a daily tool for the team and a clear expression of how the firm approaches design.
