Ash & Elm Cider Co celebrates Gen Con with a tribute to Lynda Anderson’s iconic carpet design

In 2022, we shared the unexpected story of a carpet that became a cult classic. Designed by Synthesis interior designer Lynda Anderson for the Indiana Convention Center, the richly patterned flooring was a mainstay for years, an unmissable backdrop for conventions, gatherings, and in particular, Gen Con. When it was retired, fans of the annual gaming convention took notice. Some even took home salvaged squares as souvenirs.
Now in 2025, that same pattern has reappeared in a new and surprising form: a cider can.
Just in time for Gen Con weekend, Ash & Elm Cider Co has released a limited-edition label for their raspberry-lemon cider “Fleeting Youth,” wrapping the can in Lynda’s original carpet design. The cider is a tribute to the space where thousands of attendees have gathered, year after year.
The carpet’s geometric composition and earthy palette were originally conceived as a nod to Indiana’s geography, layered with warm tones, organic lines, and architectural structure.

While many designs in public venues fade into the background, this one quietly became a symbol of place and memory. Over time, it earned a reputation of its own among the Gen Con community. Ash & Elm’s commemorative can offers a moment of design continuity and local pride. It’s also a reminder of how the built environment can leave a lasting impression, whether underfoot or, in this case, in hand.
From flooring to fan favorite, Lynda’s design continues to connect with new audiences in unexpected ways. We’re proud to see her work recognized and celebrated by another local business that understands the value of design that resonates.
You can find the cider at Ash & Elm’s taprooms in Indianapolis and Carmel, with a 10% discount for Gen Con badge holders from July 31 to August 3.
